corporate financier and treasurer
Andy Dry
A globally accomplished finance professional, Andy has raised more than $60bn of capital markets transactions during the past 10 years. He’s an experienced treasury operations manager and leader of global teams as well as an established change manager and risk manager. Andy is a multilingual professional who is experienced and comfortable working across multiple geographies and cultures and has a strong track record working with C-Suite executives and Board members.
Andy was until recently the Group Treasurer of VEON Ltd., a NASDAQ listed global mobile telecommunications company, responsible for all corporate finance, foreign exchange hedging, investments, cash management, treasury policies, and insurances.
During his tenure with VEON, he was responsible for creating the initial financing structure for the 2011 VEON–Wind Telecom merger and subsequently transforming and streamlining the company’s capital structure, resulting in an increase in credit ratings and a substantial reduction in borrowing cost. Andy evaluated all merger and acquisition proposals to assess the potential impact on capital structure and developed financing structures coherent with the capital structure, and also assessed the potential impact of VEON’s long term forecasts on the capital structure. He implemented a new foreign exchange hedging strategy to reduce the effect of RUB devaluation and conducted a full reevaluation of all global insurance programs and coverages.
Andy executed multiple financings totaling more than USD 60bn for VEON, including establishment of a USD 6.5bn EUR MTN program, numerous USD and RUB bonds, liability management transactions, syndicated loans, and three re-financings of Wind Italy; the last of which in 2017 was the largest high-yield transaction of that year.
Prior to joining VEON, Andy had a successful career as an investment banker, a Managing Director leading the European Telecom Advisory team for the Royal Bank of Scotland and lead ABN AMRO Bank’s Global Telecom, Media, and Technology Corporate and Investment Banking Group. He was a member of ABN AMRO’s Top 150 Executive Group.
Andy also worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, Booz Allen & Hamilton, and the Irving Trust Company.
He received his Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a concentration in International Economics, and his Bachelor’s Degree from American University’s School of International Service.
